Project Details

  • Reds10 were the Design and Build Contractor which delivered a turnkey modular solution including groundworks and landscaping
  • Steel framed volumetric building including a volumetric double height multi-purpose hall
  • Naturally Ventilated (through mixed mode ventilation)
  • Smart building technology monitors energy usage & provides data to enable the building to be operated at lowest cost and with a much-reduced carbon footprint
  • 99%+ waste diverted from landfill

Green Park Village School is a two-form entry primary school with nursery, located in Green Park Village, the new 1,400 property signature development by Berkeley Homes in Reading. Reds10 were appointed to the project in 2018 through a tendering process, during which we were able to score the highest on Quality and Cost submission against several Tier 1 Contractors.

As an Architectural Centrepiece, the original concept was for the school to be built based on a traditional on-site constructed steel frame. Reds10 were able to demonstrate how this type of building (even with its non-standard shape) can be delivered to a fraction of the budget, in a significantly reduced period of time on site, and to a quality that complements the exceptional standards of Berkeley Homes, using Volumetric Modular Construction.

‘Green Park Village Primary School is the architectural centrepiece of our new signature residential development near Reading. As such, the quality standards we were after were particularly high. Reds10 far exceeded these throughout the process, providing us with a building that is not only visually amazing, but was delivered on time and within budget and can be operated to the lowest cost and carbon footprint.'

Christopher Adams, Commercial Director

Berkeley Group

Green Park Village Primary School is a two storey, steel framed volumetric school building, including double storey height main hall and feature reception area, with faceted link buildings and complex external wall treatment to meet both client and planning requirements.

The project included all design, procurement and installation, FF&E, ground & external works, such as MUGA and 3G synthetic sports pitches and external play areas.

Reds10 deployed SMART building technology in the School to enable it to be operated at lowest cost, responding to the actual use of the building and with a much-reduced carbon footprint.

The facades too are of particular note - they are a prime example of how far the boundaries of modular construction can be stretched. In fact, Green Park Village Primary School truly represents Reds10's unique approach to Volumetric Modular Construction is changing the construction industry.

'Green Park Village Primary school delivered by Reds10 with a professional team with seamless quality. The construction of the school show-cased the versatility and high standard of modular off-site construction, with link blocks, double height spaces and class blocks to deliver buildings which have previously been delivered through traditional construction. Programme and cost savings were achieved without compromising on the quality of the delivery.'
